There's a moment most parents know well. Someone's hurt, you need something, + you're rooting through a dusty box of out-of-date plasters hoping there's something useful in there.

I knew that moment - for me it was a dusty plastic container with a stuck on hand made label that said: First Aid. As a palliative care nurse + mum of three, I also knew there had to be something better.

Two worlds, one kit

In my nursing work, I see the power of modern medicine every day. It saves lives. It matters. At home, with three kids + the everyday bumps, stings + splinters that come with family life, I've learnt that natural remedies have a place too.

Not instead of proper first aid. Alongside it.

For years I used both. A plaster for the cut, something natural like lavender to soothe the sting. Teatree + manuka to promote healing + reduce the chance of infection, arnica for bruises + muscle aches. I was always switching between two different boxes, two different approaches.

I couldn't find a kit that brought them together so I created Ouch + Soothe Kits

Why conventional first aid still matters

Natural remedies are powerful, but they don't replace the basics. Infection control, wound care, stopping a bleed - these things matter, and they need proper kit. My nursing background means I take that seriously. Every Ouch + Soothe kit has the essentials: plasters, bandages, scissors, gauze tape, gloves. These are helpful essentials in a kit, supporting you to offer high quality care when someone get hurts.

Why natural remedies belong in your first aid kit

For everyday ailments - a headache, a sting, a bruise, a graze - there's often a supportive option that works beautifully either alongside conventional treatment or instead of. One that offers the body just a little more nurturing + soothing.

That's what the natural remedies in the kit are for. Chosen carefully: included deliberately + explained so you know exactly what to reach for + when.

Here's what you'll find alongside the first aid essentials:

  • Arnica cream - for bruises + muscle aches

  • Tea tree and manuka cream - natural antibacterial support for cuts + grazes

  • Aloe vera gel + cream - soothing + cooling for burns, sunburn + irritated skin

  • After bite relief balm - fast relief for insect bites + stings

  • Lavender - calming + versatile, for headaches, nettle stings + helping little ones settle

  • Hand sanitiser with essential oils - effective + kind to skin + smells delicious

  • Comfort essence - emotional support for those moments when someone needs more than a plaster

  • Arnica homeopathic tablets - bruising, muscle aches + after a fall

Made for real family life

The Full Kit is designed for home + bigger adventures. The Pocket Kit goes everywhere else - school bags, walks with or without furry friends + days out. Both are reusable, refillable, + packaged with the planet in mind.
