How to Use Gauze Swabs
Gauze swabs are a trusted tool in hospitals, first aid kits + emergency care settings. For basic wound cleaning + dressing at home, follow these steps:
Wash your hands + wear clean gloves if available.
Rinse the wound under clean water.
Using clean tweezers or clean hands remove a gauze swab from its sterile packaging.
Moisten the swab with saline solution — avoid antiseptic as it may slow healing.
Gently dab or wipe the wound to lift debris + residue.
If needed, use a second swab to absorb excess blood or fluid.
Rinse the wound again with saline + apply a non-adherent dressing.
